Thanks A Bunch

Thanks A Bunch – This card was inspired by the SSS Wednesday Challenge – Summer Sunshine http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/

I went through so many different scenarios with the card. I wanted to use the Dancing Fruits stamp set from SSS but I wasn’t sure what kink of card I wanted to make. I started with some gold foiling (which I will use for another card) but didn’t like how it looked with the fruits that I had colored. I stamped a bunch of the outlined fruits on Neenah white cardstock and colored them with Prismacolor colored pencils. I also stamped the solid fruits but decided not to use those for this card. To blend the colored pencils, I used Gamsol (a product that I learned about from Jennifer McQuire http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2014/06/video-colored-pencils-and-gamsol.html) and some Fantastix as a blending tool.

I had to walk away from this card for awhile; I actually went to bed (it was pretty late!). When I woke up, I started thinking about places where I see fruit. In my house, we put our fruit in bowls which gave me the idea to stack my fruits on my card. I decided to give them faces (from the SSS Coffee and Tea) and make it a fun card.

For the background, I blended mowed lawn Distress Ink on the bottom with squeezed lemonade on the top. I adhered that to a piece of dark red cardstock to bring out the color of the apples. I stacked the fruit up how I wanted them and started to glue them down, making sure to leave the leaves up for some dimension. I stamped the sentiment ‘Thanks’ from the SSS Big Greetings 1 stamp set on a thin strip of white cardstock that I colored with squeezed lemonade, cut the ends to make it into a banner and adhered it to the card with some foam tape. I wanted the words ‘a bunch’ but didn’t have any stamps or dies that said this so I decided to write it. I usually don’t like my writing but I didn’t want it to prevent me from finishing this card so I just went with it. Now that it’s together, I really like how it turned out. I puts a smile on my face when I look at it so hopefully it will do the same for the recipient 🙂

Hope you enjoyed this card! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
